The Longbridge Chess Academy is designed for anyone looking to learn and improve at chess in a friendly and supportive environment.
Whether you are:

the Academy welcomes players of all ages and abilities.
Sessions focus on building confidence, understanding the fundamentals of chess, and helping players develop their game step by step.

What We Teach
Academy sessions include a mixture of:

The aim is to create a relaxed atmosphere where players can learn at their own pace while enjoying the game.
Junior and Beginner Friendly
The Academy places a strong emphasis on encouraging new players into chess, especially juniors and families discovering the game together.
No previous club experience is required, and complete beginners are always welcome.
Players can simply turn up, meet the team, and get involved.
Meet the Academy Team

Matt
Matt helps oversee Academy evenings and supports newer players in developing their understanding of the game. He focuses on creating a welcoming atmosphere while helping players improve through practical guidance and game analysis.

Jordan
Jordan works alongside the Academy team to assist beginners and developing juniors, helping introduce core chess principles, tactical awareness, and confidence over the board.
Together, the Academy team aims to make chess enjoyable, accessible, and rewarding for players of all levels.
More Than Just Lessons
The Academy is also an important part of the wider Longbridge Chess Club community.
Many Academy players go on to:
- join club nights,
- play friendly games,
